Getting It Right From The Farm Is The Freshest Way
While driving in the country I discovered Brookfront Farms in New Dundee. There is a store that is attached to the farm that is open to the public. They supply surrounding communities with local organic groceries and eco-friendly products. Their beef is grass fed and the cattle is raised on the pastures at Brookfront Farm.
It's not just beef that is in the freezers. There is pork, chicken, sausages and other products. The fridges have all the the brand name organic foods you are familiar with. Then you have the shelves that are stacked with various organic, natural and eco-friendly goods.
My favourite section was the confectionery. Candy and chocolate always tastes better when it's actually good for you. Eating the sweets will give you no guilt because they are comprised of all natural ingredients.
I was very impressed with their bread selection from health conscious bakeries such as; Thornbury Bakery, Grainfield Bakery, Golden Hearth Bakery and Grain Harvest Bread House.
They also have online store called "The Sustainable Market"(sustainablemarket.ca).
This service allows customers to go on line Monday to Wednesday before noon and shop. Anything that is available in the store and on the farm can be ordered on line. Grocery orders can be picked up Friday's between three and six o'clock.
Everything that is available to be picked from the farm can be ordered.
To avoid waste, producers pick only what is ordered. There is no membership fee for this service. You can also check out Brookfront Farms on Facebook (thesustainablemarket).
I saw so many earth friendly items that I never knew existed. The selection will fascinate you. For natural and local reasons, consider doing your next grocery shopping at Brookfront Farms.
It's worth the drive.
They are open Monday to Friday: Ten to six o'clock in the evening. Saturday, from ten o'clock to four o'clock in the afternoon.
The farm is located at 2053 Bridge Street in New Dundee Ontario. Just 20 minutes outside of Kitchener.
